Professional Development Hours (PDHs) are a critical component in the certification and re-certification of the Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) credential. Based on the clock hour, one PDH equals one hour of participation in a pre-approved training directly related to the performance domains of employee assistance programming. The EACC awards PDHs only for the meeting time in which training is provided - breaks and lunches or other administrative activities are not included.
Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) are defined as one hour of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. EAPA has applied for CEUs to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences (for CA licensed MFTs and LCSWs), the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).
Attendees are advised to check with their licensing boards and agencies to see which continuing education credits will be accepted.
As a guideline, please use the following to calculate how many PDHs/CEUs you will earn at EAPA's 2009 Annual World EAP Conference:
General Session Keynote Address = 1 Unit
Conference Breakout Sessions = 1.5 Units
Pre-Conference Trainings = 7 Units each day
