There is agreement that recruitment and retention will be key issues in the future, but there is little information available about the factors that draw people to the profession, lead to job satisfaction and predict career patterns. This research examines LIS graduates from 1964 to 2005 and provides information that can be used in recruiting the academic workforce of tomorrow.
