Developing an Infusion Alliance: A Benchmark for Success

Infusion nurses are recognized as experts in infusion care delivery. Clinicians bring not only nursing skill and advanced patient assessment to the care arena, but also provide the healthcare organization with tangible benefits such as economic considerations and effective risk management strategies. The infusion nurse is an integral member of the healthcare team, providing autonomous and dedicated infusion care to all patients along the health continuum, from neonate to older adult. INS strongly believes that a “physical” and "philosophical" team alliance approach not only leads to positive patient outcomes, but creates steady streams of revenue as well.

The goal of this special five-hour program is to demonstrate the impact that the infusion nursing specialty has on the entire healthcare system. Included are sessions on creating and maintaining a specialized infusion alliance, collecting and benchmarking data, utilizing research and integrating evidence-based practice to support the alliance, and implementing and maintaining the program in all healthcare settings.
